Welcome to the Tarleton State University Computer Science Program

The Computer Science program is part of the Department of Mathematics, Physics and Engineering.  It offers a 4 year Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.  In addition to offering a good, solid Computer Science education the program focuses on the study of software engineering and it application to embedded systems. 

Software engineering is the process of designing medium to large scale software applications.  Object oriented techniques are the foundation of the modern software engineering practices and are extensively covered by the Computer Science curriculum.

 Embedded applications are those programs that do not have a traditional graphical user interface.  These types of applications range from software that may control a microwave oven to the flight control systems of a fighter aircraft.  There are numerous opportunities within the program to develop embedded applications.
